  Catfish or Plecostomus

Information about all sorts of Catfish, Plecostomus or Algae Eater, like the Snow King Plecostomus, the Asian Bumblebee Catfish and Pin Striped Plecostomus for your tropical fish tank.

The Catfish, plecostomus or Algae Eater, is an aquarium favorite for a number of reasons. The first is its ability to keep the aquarium free of algae. It accomplishes this by "sucking" at the aquarium glass or decorations with its strong, under-turned mouth. Another is that it is a very hardy species that will adapt to most aquarium conditions. If you avoid keeping the fish in extreme pH levels or temperatures it will usually thrive. We've even tried to throw in a little bit of breeding information of each species.
