The Black Bullhead Catfish is
widespread in lakes and rivers around western North America.
They are used as food and as pond fish outdoors. They can be
kept successfully in an aquarium but they grow very fast and are
more at home outside. It may be aggressive to others when
breeding.

Catfish will create a round hole in the sandy bottom to deposit
its eggs in. It will guard its eggs and fry relentlessly for a
few weeks.
